Hanging Guide & Requirements
Check these before you buy: this hammock hangs between two sturdy trees or posts about 13–15 ft apart (or on a hammock stand, sold separately), so plan on about 15 ft of open space.
Requirements
| Anchor points | Two sturdy trees or wooden posts at least 6" in diameter. Hardwoods such as oak or hickory hold far better than softwoods like willow, palm or beech. You can also hang between a tree and a post set in concrete, from a building, or on a porch or deck (permanent structures only). |

How to hang it
- Pick your spot. Find two solid anchors 13–15 ft apart, each at least 6" thick, with the area between them clear.
- Mark the hook height. Mark each anchor about 4 ft above the ground, or use the heights in the table above for your exact spacing.
- Install the tree hooks. Drill a 1/8" pilot hole, start each hook by hand, then turn it the rest of the way with a wrench or a screwdriver through the eye. Stop as soon as the eye touches the wood; over-twisting weakens the hook.
- Hang the hammock. Hook each chain over a tree hook (don't wrap it around the hook) and use the chain links to set the height and tension. Keep the chains straight, not twisted.
- Break it in. It may feel tight at first. After some use it stretches to its full length, so re-adjust the chains; it's normal to tweak the height a couple of times.
Tips
- Measure first: make sure you have about 15 ft of open space and two anchors strong enough to hold the hammock plus the people in it.
- Rather not drill your trees? Tree hooks don't harm a tree's health but do leave permanent holes; all-weather tree straps need no drilling and make it easy to change the height or move the hammock.
- Setting your own posts? Dig each hole at least 18" wide and 26" deep, install the hook before setting the post, fill with concrete and let it set overnight before hanging.
- Always lie in the center of the hammock, not on the edge. No jumping or swinging, supervise children, and never place an infant in the hammock.
- Don't flip the hammock over while it's hung, and inspect the rope, chains and hooks before each use.
- Bring it indoors during long stretches of bad weather to help it last longer.
