POLYWOOD Chippendale 60" Swing: A classic porch swing with room for the whole family
The Chippendale 60" Swing pairs the elegant geometric lattice of classic Chippendale design with a wide, comfortable seat. At just over 59" wide, it gives two or three people room to unwind on a breezy afternoon. Hang it from a sturdy porch ceiling, pergola or swing frame, and add outdoor throw pillows for extra comfort.
Built from 100% recycled plastic
The Chippendale 60" Swing is made from POLYWOOD® lumber, crafted from recycled HDPE plastics. It looks like painted wood but won't absorb moisture, so it won't rot, crack, splinter, chip or peel. UV-protected color stays rich season after season, and stainless steel hardware resists rust.
Made in the USA
POLYWOOD® makes the Chippendale 60" Swing in the USA at its facilities in Indiana and North Carolina, and backs it with a 20-year residential warranty.
Easy care
No sealing, staining or painting, ever. Wipe down with mild soap and warm water and a soft brush, then rinse with a garden hose. For tougher spots, a diluted bleach solution can be used.

Installation Guide & Requirements
Check these before you buy: the swing hangs from two points on your porch ceiling, so it needs strong overhead framing, mounting hardware for your structure and room to swing.
Requirements
| Ceiling support | A load-bearing 2x6 or larger ceiling joist or beam (POLYWOOD suggests 2x6 or 2x8), supported on both ends. It must carry the swing plus the people using it, so have a pro check your structure if you're unsure. |
| Ceiling height | Up to 9 ft with the included chains. |
| Hanging height | Adjust the chains so the seat sits about 18" from the floor (POLYWOOD's range for porch swings is 17–19"). |
| Mount spacing | Two overhead mounts about 68" apart, centered over where the swing will hang. |
| Swing clearance | 3–4 ft in front and behind, and 12–14" on each side. Plan for a clear area about 7 ft wide × 8–10 ft deep. |
| Swing weight | 85 lbs. Plan on at least two people to lift and hold it while you connect the chains. |
| Weight capacity | 500 lbs |
| Included hardware | Adjustable zinc-plated steel chain kit: four 5 ft chain sections, four eye bolts that attach to the swing, and six quick links. Overhead mounting hardware (the hooks or eye bolts that go into your ceiling) is not included; buy hardware rated for your structure and the swing's load. |
| Tools needed | Assembly: a 4mm T-handle hex key (included) and a 1/2" wrench. Hanging: an adjustable wrench, tape measure and ladder, plus any tools your overhead hardware calls for. |
How to install
- Assemble the swing. Follow POLYWOOD's instructions. The eye bolts that hold the chains go into the swing during assembly.
- Install the overhead mounts. Find a load-bearing joist or beam and install two mounts about 68" apart, centered over where the swing will hang.
- Attach the chains. Connect the chain sections to the swing's eye bolts with the quick links, then add a second section to the center link on each side so it forms an upside-down Y.
- Prop up the swing. With a helper, set the swing directly under the mounts at about its final height. Upside-down 5-gallon buckets or cinder blocks work well.
- Hang and adjust. Connect the top of each chain to its overhead mount with the remaining quick links. Adjust the chains so the seat sits about 18" from the floor; to change the seat angle, move the center connection a link or two forward or back, the same on both sides.
- Check your work. Screw every quick link fully closed with a wrench and make sure both sides are the same length. Remove the supports, then add weight slowly and give the swing a few firm tugs before you sit back and enjoy.
Tips
- Measure your porch before ordering: confirm the 7 ft × 8–10 ft swing area is clear of railings, posts, doors and walkways.
- Bring a second person. At 85 lbs, the swing is hard to lift and hold level alone.
- Hang it with chains, not rope. POLYWOOD tests its porch swings with chains only.
- Don't hang it from a tree; POLYWOOD doesn't recommend trees as a swing support.
- Check the hanging hardware each season: mounts tight, quick links closed and chains in good shape.
