Understanding the Client’s Vision

A Place That Welcomes Friends and Adult Children

From our very first conversation, entertaining was the priority. The homeowners host often—think long weekends when adult children visit, casual neighbor drop-ins, and evenings that start at the bar and end with feet up on the patio. That meant seating, circulation, and easy-care finishes were non-negotiable. Every selection needed to hold up to regular use and still look fresh when the next group walked in.

Keep the Classics… Then Add a Splash of Beach

They loved a traditional look for the main pieces around the pool—antique mahogany on black was the palette they gravitated toward for dining and rocker sets. But they also wanted a fun pop of aqua in the bar and indoor patio to capture that breezy Myrtle Beach vibe. The goal was a subtle coastal nod, not a theme park—timeless where it counts, and playful where it feels natural.

Design Strategy

Stretching the Seating: A Custom, Extra-Long Sofa

For the indoor patio, we custom ordered modular POLYWOOD® Vineyard pieces to build an extra-long sofa. The Vineyard line is a favorite of mine for its classic profile and serious comfort, and the modular approach let us stretch the length to fit the room perfectly. We avoided the “too many chairs, no conversation” problem by creating one generous anchor that faces the action. Pillows in coastal textures and a couple of low-profile side tables keep the layout airy and flexible for game nights, coffee chats, or extra guests.

Aqua Where It Counts: Bar Seating with POLYWOOD Palm

At the bar, we leaned into aqua using POLYWOOD Palm counter chairs. This is where color brings energy: it’s the spot people walk toward first, the stage for mixing drinks and swapping stories. Aqua keeps the bar lively and sets a fun tone as guests come in from the pool. The Palm silhouette is supportive without feeling bulky, so you get comfort and a clean visual line. It’s the splash of beach the homeowners wanted—bright enough to feel coastal, grounded enough to live with every day.

Traditional, Tried-and-True Around the Pool

Out by the pool, we kept the core furnishings traditional: a Berlin Gardens dining set, matching rockers, and a chaise for sun-seekers. Antique mahogany on black brings that handsome, classic contrast the clients love and ties beautifully with the house finishes. The dining table comfortably hosts family meals while the rockers offer quiet spots to watch the sunset or keep an eye on the action in the water. The chaise is that simple, luxurious touch you appreciate after a long day—perfect for a towel, a book, and a breeze.

Built for Wind, Weather, and Real Life

Myrtle Beach can be breezy, so weight and stability mattered. Both POLYWOOD and Berlin Gardens bring the heft and durability you want in a windy area, plus they’re low maintenance. These materials don’t need seasonal sanding or staining; a quick soap-and-water rinse keeps them looking sharp. We also thought through how the pieces would handle salty air, sunscreen, and frequent use. The result? Furniture that’s as practical as it is pretty, so time gets spent enjoying, not upkeeping.

Cohesive Flow from Bar to Pool

To connect the indoor patio and the pool area, we coordinated finishes and textures. The dark, traditional tones around the pool pair with the indoor sofa’s classic lines, while the aqua at the bar echoes in small accents—pillows, a throw, a tray—so the color feels intentional rather than loud. The whole plan moves like a story: guests grab a seat at the aqua bar, slide to the long sofa for laughs, and wander outside to the rockers or chaise as the evening cools.

The Outcome: Aqua Accents Meet Myrtle Beach Tradition

An Indoor Patio That Works Like a Great Room

The extra-long Vineyard sofa did exactly what we hoped—turned the indoor patio into a true gathering zone. There’s room for the whole crew without breaking up the conversation, and the modular pieces sit comfortably without feeling cramped. The style is timeless, so the aqua in the room reads as fresh and curated, not busy.

A Bar People Naturally Flock To

Those aqua Palm counter chairs are conversation starters. They strike a balance between playful and polished, and they make the bar the happy heartbeat of the home. Whether it’s a casual brunch with the kids or a late-night porch light moment, the bar now has that effortless “pull up a chair” feel.

Poolside, the Classics Shine

The Berlin Gardens dining and rocker set in antique mahogany on black brings the traditional look the clients asked for, and the chaise adds that resort-style comfort everyone ends up claiming. The set is substantial enough to feel secure on breezy days. More than that, the styling nods to Southern porches and easy coastal living—timeless, sturdy, and welcoming.

Low Maintenance = More Time Outside

Because the materials are durable and easy-care, the homeowners get weekends back. No annual re-finishing, no nervousness about salty air or sunscreen spills. Just a light clean and they’re good to go. That’s the kind of practicality that keeps outdoor spaces in rotation all year long.

A Cohesive, Coastal-Classic Look

Most importantly, the spaces feel connected. The aqua at the bar brings in the beach, while the traditional tones around the pool steer the look toward classic coastal. The transitions are smooth, the sightlines are clean, and the vibe is relaxed—exactly what the homeowners wanted for hosting friends and adult children, again and again.
