Clean your grill regularly

Cleaning your drip pan and flavorizers/briquette trays every 4-5 cooks will reduce the chance of any grease fires or flare ups occurring while you grill. Making sure you clean your cooking grates after you cook will ensure no flare ups occur and that the flavor of your food isn’t affected. If cooking with a pellet grill, make sure your pellet hopper is empty. Leftover pellets can expand with humidity and cause damage to your auger motor.

Deep cleaning

Even if you do not cook a lot of fatty foods, food residue does compile, and it will eventually ignite effecting how your grill performs. A twice a year deep cleaning can ensure the performance and longevity of your grill. Take your cooking grids and flavorizers out and soak them in warm soapy water. Remove the burners with a wrench and clean out blocked burner holes with a paperclip. Clean out the interior of the grill with baking soda/vinegar combination. Scrape off any build up with a putty knife. Remove your drip tray to scrape out any grease or residue. After scrapping off any residue make sure you clean the interior of the grill with warm soapy water. Take your cooking grids and flavorizers out of the soaking tub and scrap off any leftover residue. Reassemble the grill and test it.

Use a grill cover and clean the exterior of your grill

Using a grill cover guarantees your grill is protected from the elements, debris and harsh, outdoor environments. Regularly cleaning the exterior of your grill with a stainless steel cleaner or soap/water will make sure the exterior of your grill will withstand any harsh materials like salt.
